Rip Curl Pro Tofino 2016

The Rip Curl Pro Tofino 2016 is the second project that I have had the luxury of working on for Rip Curl Canada. The concept of this project was to update last years Rip Curl Pro Tofino website with the new content for the 10th annual contest at Cox Bay in Tofino, BC. Working with the guys from Rip Curl is always fun and its a company where I strongly agree with their famous catch line “live the search”.

I had started off this project by making sure to update all sponsors of this event as some sponsors had been added to the event along with others updating their logos. This is always a fun part as if it were not for these sponsors events like this one would not be able to happen.

After that was complete I had to update the landing page to this years logo and backdrop. This involved taking the concept from the flyer for the event and using Photoshop to alter it so that the you were giving the same feel while visiting the webpage.

Moving forward from that we shuffled some things some around in the second section of the page so that we had a area to put news feeds during the event. This meant having to re create the SearchGPS Surf watch contest area as it was formally in the area that now holds the news feed. This involved the use of Photoshop and coding to make everything work properly.

We  solved this problem by embedding a google map that way people can find directions to the event from their wherever they are.

One of my personal favourite features that we added to the site this year of the Surfline widget, this shows people visiting the site the current swell reports along with weather, wind, air temp, water temp, sunrise/sunsets, tides and a link to the full reports and web cam at Surfline.

Make sure to head to to find out more info about the event.
